During the lifetime of a cosmetic product, the distributor of raw materials mainly plays the role of supporting research, development and creating any projects referring to that cosmetic preparation.

In order to achieve this, we at Carlo Sessa can rely on specific suppliers we represent for the national territory, by carrying out for them some kind of trading network, as well as offering their selection of products and technologies.

We have already mentioned our point of view about sustainability and raw materials in this article. In general, we are moving towards eco-friendly raw materials and techniques, enabling us to give a plus to our customers both for the planning and development of their new preparations.

This is the reason why we choose our suppliers on the basis of their seriousness and policy. We are focussed on clinical trials and certifications, always looking for any raw materials being in line with present or future trends, in compliance with our company policy.

Our price-list raw materials is constantly updated and especially during the last year is moving more and more both towards a high eco-sustainability and any improving techniques with a low environmental impact.

Technology and environment: nanofibrillated cellulose

An example for an eco-friendly raw material we have recently gained is nanofibrillated cellulose. Cellulose is an organic substance mostly present in wildlife, it’s a thread-like polysaccharide, it builds the primary structure of plants and is not digestible by human beings.

Nanofibrillated cellulose is made by a nanofiber bundle of extended cellulose. Within the bundle, the cellulose chains are entangled but flexible. It has a remarkable mechanical resistance, thermal stability, low density and high water retention capacity.

A fully eco-friendly raw material, obtained from vegetal stems and leaves, which is an excellent moisturizer, stabilizer and rheologic modifier.

Technology and environment: Naolys and Algaktiv

Since the end of 2023 Algaktiv and Greenaltech products are not available in Carlo Sessa’s catalogue. For any informations about their products, please contact the manufacturers directly

As for a low environmental impact or even raw material improving technologies, we have two represented companies, moving to this directions: Naolys and Algaktiv.

Naolys, by means of the cell-culture they can get the raw material without encumbering the plant itself. Thanks to a long research work and technical development, they manage to gain the vegetal active cells by making an incision on the plant and extracting the mother cell with the active agent of the plant concerned.

In order to get the different desidered functionalities, at Naolys they use the mother cell as a deliver system and succeed in adding other active substances, too. In this way, this technology has a very low impact on the environment, thus avoiding plant destruction and even preserving them.

The technology used by Algaktiv in processing microalgae shows a high sustainability with their last launch we have dealt in our previous post allows us to have a raw material which is free from some unfavourable elements for the same in wildlife. By means of this kind of microalgae fractions processing, it is possible to obtain a product without heavy metals and irrelevant iodium levels. So we can overcome all the problems normally bound to algae as well as promote the raw material of this Spanish supplier at best.

These are only a few examples how Carlo Sessa chooses its manufacturers to represent. Every day we are engaged in the research of raw materials and new technologies in oder to progress hand in hand with our customers and develop together more and more performant and eco-friendly preparations.
