Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) belongs to cyanobacteria (or green / blue algae). This extract has a high content of phycocyanins, i.e. active molecules of spirulina. The liquid extract of spirulina is especially suitable for vegan or vegetarian diets. Further to many beneficial properties, it includes high amounts of Vitamin A and B12 as well as minerals and is a source of antioxidants.
Phycocyanin is the main pigment of Spirulina and accounts for about 20% of its weight. This protein plays an essential role in capturing light and can absorb light energy at different wavelengths (orange and red). Therefore, phycocyanin is the core of Spirulina and it captures ten times as much energy as chlorophyll. SpirulysatR is an extract with a high concentration of phycocyanin and has beneficial properties for the human body, such as:
- High bioavailability: the liquid form allows a very high availability of the active molecules and a rapid assimilation by the body;
- 100% natural: SpirulysatR is a pure extract without the addition of chemicals or solvents. The extract has a neutral taste when diluted in a little quantity of water.
- Improved efficiency: the antioxidant activity of phycocyanins in the liquid extract is 50 times as much as in dry spirulina.

The Company
Microalgae and cyanobacteria are single microscopic cells that have been present in aquatic environments for over 4 billion years. Together with plants they share an extraordinary power: photosynthesis, or the ability to use sunlight to create organic matter and release oxygen. Thanks to this complex cellular process, they make life on earth possible.
AlgoSource was founded in 1993 with the aim of assisting its customers in the cultivation processes of microalgae, and possible applications in the nutraceutical, cosmetic and food sectors. AlgoSource's expertise lies in the identification and extraction of bioactive molecules from microalgae through patented processes to preserve the integrity of the active ingredients.
