Description
Ethyl Macadamiate is an emollient ester derived from cold-pressed macadamia oil. The raw material comes from Australian nuts with plump, oil-rich kernels: roughly 6 kg of in-shell nuts yield 1 kg of oil.
The oil is then converted through a biocatalytic transesterification process developed by JAJALE, which produces esters of lower molecular weight than conventional macadamia oil. The result is an ingredient with superior spreadability, faster absorption and a dry after-feel, while retaining the emollient power of the source oil.
Its sensory profile suits both combination and oily skin — where the native oil often feels too heavy — and dry skin in need of nourishment.
Key benefits
- Spreadability and fast absorption — static contact angle ~47% lower than macadamia oil
- Ultra-low viscosity — roughly 3.6 times more fluid than the native oil at 25 °C
- Light, non-greasy touch — dry finish with no residual film
- Breathable — does not weigh down skin or hair
- Mild and skin-friendly — compatible with a broad range of skin types
- Plant-derived — sourced from cold-pressed macadamia oil
Comparative data
Direct comparison between JAJALE® Macadamia Seed Oil and JAJALE® Ethyl Macadamiate.
| Parameter | Macadamia Seed Oil | Ethyl Macadamiate | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viscosity at 25 °C (cP / mPa·s) | 127.5 | 35.58 | −72% |
| Static contact angle (°) | 85.9 | 45.75 | −47% |
How to read the data. Lower viscosity translates into a more fluid application and a lighter feel on contact. A lower static contact angle indicates greater wettability of the skin surface: the product spreads faster across a wider area and absorbs sooner.
