Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammation of the skin that mainly affects younger individuals, causing severe itching and burning sensation. To counter this phenomenon, AntalGenics has created a molecule capable of acting on sensory neurons by reducing inflammatory activity.

The effectiveness of this product lies in the in vitro and in vivo studies carried out. In particular, in vivo studies have shown how Calmapsin® reduces the amount of free radicals in keratinocytes (epithelial cells), consequently reducing oxidative stress that damages the cells themselves. At reduced concentrations, Calmapsin® reduces oxidative stress more effectively than the more common Ascorbic Acid.

The in vivo studies were carried out on a sample of 22 individuals aged between 18-75 years: the results revealed that the use of Calmapsin® in the cream formworks as a protective barrier to counteract itching and irritation of the skin.
