Carlo Sessa S.p.A. was established in 1909 and successively transformed in a joint-stock Company in 1973. Our office, laboratory and warehouse are located in Sesto San Giovanni – 6 km North of Milan – and can be easily reached through underground, railway and motorway system. Taking advantage of its long experience, the company has developed and promoted 5 main lines of business:

The company also represents several qualified Italian and foreign companies and import/export their products all over the world, selling to the most important pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic Italian companies, as well as to some major European customers.

All products are supplied with certificate of analysis in accordance with the Pharmacopoeias, the GMP and GAP, GOAP guidelines or customers' specifications. Our distribution activity in the pharmaceutical field has been authorized by AIFA (Italian Medicines
Agency) for the import of Active Pharmaceutical ingredients, local authorities and Ministry of Health for controlled substances.

1909

1909 – Foundation

Mr French e Mr. Cotta, establishe a import and distribution company in Milan

1919

Two brothers Dr. Arnaldo and Dr. Antonio Sessa take over the company French & Cotta – They specialize in the import, export and distribution of raw substances for the chemical, pharmaceutical industry.

1936

1921-1936

Exclusive distribution agreements with selected and world-wide important manufacturers for the Italian market have been conclude. The company is world-wide active in the following fields: pharmaceutical and medicinal and aromatic plant.

1945

After surviving the vicissitudes of the Second World War, the Sessa brothers continue their activity.

1967

The grandnephew Dr. Carlo Sessa becomes the sole owner of the company and broadens the spectrum of distribution partnerships.

1973

The company expands and is subsequently transformed into a joint stock company under the name of Carlo Sessa S.p.A.

1975

1974-1975

First exclusive imports in Italy of Royal Jelly and bee derivatives from China. Exclusive distribution of the original Korean Red Ginseng extract.

1976

Obtains from Ministry of Health authoristation to distribuite controller substances. This authorization how now been granted for over 38 years and is continuously renewed.

1981

Dr. Carlo Sessa together with other companies establishes ASSOERBE (Herb growers and medicinal and aromatic plant distributors association)

1983

Cooperation with La Rinascente for sales of finished herb products and teas.

1996

Dr. Carlo Sessa has been sent by the Ministry of Health to represent Italy in expert group 13/B of European Pharmacopoeia in Strasburg, whose scope is to prepare monographs for medicinal plants

2007

Carlo Sessa S.p.A. is organic certified by ICEA.

2009

Carlo Sessa S.p.A. starts actively distribution in cosmetic functional ingredients.

2010

Quality Management System has been put in place

2015

2014-2016

Carlo Sessa S.p.A. has been GMP authorized AIFA for the import from non EU countries and distribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

2023

Carlo Sessa S.p.A. celebrates 50 years of success as a joint-stock company
